The PTM (Power Transmission Module) transmits the power from the combustion to the piston, which turns the crankshaft. For 1 cylinder PTM there are just 2 moving parts, the piston and the crankshaft, more cylinder just add pistons. All valves are ports. The PTM can turn the flywheel either direction. Because of the design of the porting, the PTM requires no electric starter to start. The PTM can come to a complete stop while not in uses, such as a car waiting for a green light. Upon opening the speed control the PTM jumps immediately into life and starts turning at a very high rpm. Pistons can be double acting, power both direction, making a much small and lighter engine. If engine is in a car or truck, the engine can be reversed to capture the kinetic energy and be used in the APM (Alternate Power Module). Power from exhaust gases will be directed and used for energy by the APM. Heat is minor, lowing material cost to manufacture, also allowing the use of water as the lubricate. Changing oil will be done with the garden hose. The PCM (Power Cell Module) is the furnace and able to use several choices of fuels, propane gases, diesel, gas, kerosene, stove oil. Injection has be adjusted to suit fuel. Through clever orifices and magnetic held self-controlled poppet valves, fuel and air is mixed and pushed into the combustion chamber. Hence combustion takes place, the recoil or percussion energy is immediately is transfered to the APM (Alternate Power Module)to aid in making alternate power. Also, there is a build up of heat which again is used by the APM (Alternate Power Module). All mechanical parts in the PCM are away from the heat and will not suffer from heat or expansion. The APM (Alternate Power Module) is responsible for the fuel, compressed air and electric. As a backyard engine developer, and to test the theory and principal of compressed air and external combustion, a crude scrapyard, Wal-Mart duct tape version of a CAFEC Engine was fabricated. The PTM was an older 2-cycle lawnmower engine, strip down, the PCM was screwed together or welded. No APM was setup, compressed air and electric came from outside source, engine worked the first try. View these 1 minute video, of this engine, nicknamed Mr Scrap, take notices of how quickly Mr Scrap jumps to life once the control valve is open. This kind of engine performance, is welcoming. A vehicle engine could be stopped waiting for green lights rather than idling and using fuel while waiting. This video may not work in older versions of Windows, see Contact Information for help |
